Camp Grayling June 20 2010 We had a modest but highly motivated turnout for our Palma Field Championship, with 16 competitors shooting on Camp Grayling’s Range 10 on a beautiful, but very hot weekend. Although the Palma at Lodi lured away quite a few or our people, including our Junior Team, the weather gods were good to us. Sunscreen was the order of the day and special measures were instituted to ensure that shooting would be complete early in the day. A two-relay system was used with scoring in the pits. This allowed us to safely before the heat of the midday sun became dangerously unbearable. The small number of competitors also made this an achievable procedure. Saturday was irons day; we shot a Palma with a bonus 1000. Sunday was an any-sights 3x1000. Our Aggregate winner was Bryan Litz followed by Master Class winner Renzo Tormen. Al Barnhart took the honors in F(o); Jim Dietlein took F(tr). Thanks go our stalwarts, including Bob Lorenz, for setting up the range on Friday. We hope to see everybody at our Michigan Highpower and F-Class Long Range Regional, August 6, 7, & 8. This year we will be providing a full medal set, not only for the conventional highpower “sling” people, but for F(o) and F(tr) as well. We hope this date provides a great tune-up for all the people we want to sent to the Long Range portion of the NRA Nationals at Camp Perry on the following weekend. We expect to see a full Michigan-based Junior Long Range Team this year as well as perhaps two other teams as well.
