Tao Yuan "Denny" Wu
Denny at Murrysville
Denny (far right) with Chiang Kai Shek, President of the Republic of China after winning five medals in the Asian Games Extracted from his obituary:T. Y. "Denny" Wu was born in 1924 in Shanghai, China. He died peacefully at home in Ann Arbor on January 24, 2011. Denny had worked as an engineer for Ford Motor Company and during his career he was part of the Ford Racing teams during their victories at the 24 hour Le Mans race in France and the Indianapolis 500. He was an accomplished athlete representing Taiwan in five Olympics and winner of five gold medals at the Asian games. In addition he was an avid and award winning photographer who will be honored this September by the Photographic Society of America. Comments by the poster: I met Denny for the first time as a high school senior while participating in smallbore matches in Michigan. For years before, and after my active duty with the Marines, I shot with and against him. I remember a well-spoken, well-traveled gentleman, who was always cheerful and helpful. On numerous occasions, my wife and I were invited to view slide shows of his many travels. I am pleased that this last spring myself and several of his old team mates from the Ford Gun, and the Ann Arbor Rifle clubs were able to sit down with Denny and his friend Jennifer for dinner. I had hoped that there would be another opportunity, however, it was not to be. He is missed. - Leo Cebula, President MRPA
